Sat 4 December 2021

West Road Concert Hall

Arnold The Sound Barrier: Rhapsody
Prokofiev Piano Concerto no. 3
Gipps Symphony no. 4

The Rhapsody which opens the concert is based on the music for David Lean's 1952 film 'The Sound Barrier'. It is followed by Prokofiev's 3rd piano concerto, which will be played by the young American virtuoso Aaron Kurz. The concert concludes with the 4th symphony of Ruth Gipps, who as a woman composer suffered unjustifed neglect until recently, but whose works are now beginning to enjoy the reputation they deserve.

Cost: £18, £16 (concessions), £8 (students) £5 (children)
