Statute A
THE CHANCELLOR AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNIVERSITY

Chapter VI

BOARDS AND SYNDICATES

1. There shall be in the University

  1. (a)such Boards and Syndicates as may by any other provision of the Statutes be required to be maintained;
  2. (b)the following Boards and Syndicates, the composition of which shall be determined by Ordinance:
  3. (i)the Board of Graduate Studies, which shall exercise such functions, in respect of the approval of students as Graduate Students and the supervision of their work, the award of degrees in respect of graduate study or contributions to learning, and other cognate matters, as may be assigned to it by Ordinance;
  4. (ii)the Board of Examinations, which shall exercise such functions, in respect of the superintendence of University examinations and other cognate matters, as may be assigned to it by Ordinance;
  5. (iii)the Local Examinations Syndicate, which shall exercise such functions in respect of examinations in schools and other institutions as may be assigned to it by Ordinance;
  6. (c)any other Boards or Syndicates the composition and functions of which may be determined by the University.

2. Any Board or Syndicate constituted by Statute or Ordinance or by Grace of the Regent House shall have the right of reporting to the University.

3. No person shall be appointed or reappointed a member of any Board, or of any body of Electors or Managers even though it be not expressly called a Board, or of any Syndicate other than an occasional Syndicate, who at the commencement of his or her period of service or further period of service, as the case may be, would have attained the age of seventy years.
