COLLEGE LECTURERSHIP IN LAW

St Catherine's College proposes to appoint either a nine-hour or a twelve-hour Stipendiary Lecturer in Law, with effect from 1 October 2009 until 30 September 2010, during Dr Pila's leave.

The Lecturer will be expected to teach (in tutorials and classes) nine or twelve hours a week averaged over the three terms (twenty-four weeks) of the academic year. In addition, he or she will be expected to play a full role in the running of Law in the College, including arranging tuition in Law, participating in the admissions process, setting and marking College examinations, and the pastoral care of undergraduates. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching one or more of the following subjects for the College, and for offering such additional teaching in this, and at least one other subject for other Colleges as is necessary to fulfil her or his contractual stint: Roman Law, Criminal Law, Trusts, Land Law, European Community Law, and Contract Law.

The annual stipend, which is pensionable, is currently £18,117 for a nine-hour Stipendiary Lecturer and £24,156 for a twelve-hour Stipendiary Lecturer. The Lecturer will be a member of the Senior Common Room and will be entitled to twelve meals a week during Term, and during the admissions exercise in December, and two lunches and two dinners a week outside Term, free of charge. A shared teaching room will be available in College.
