Mathematical Tripos, Part III, 2009: Notice

In accordance with Regulations 18 and 19 for the Mathematical Tripos (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 351), the Examiners give notice that a candidate may submit an essay on any one of the following additional topics:

82. Principles of topographic map formation in the nervous system: vision vs. audition
83. Topics in Von Neumann algebras

85. Infinitary logic
86. Distributed wireless networking protocols
87. The classical Plateau problem
88. Auslander-Gorenstein rings
89. Schramm-Loewner evolution and random planar processes
90. Parameterization of general quantum operations
91. Efficiency and fragility in loss networks
92. Dynamical system identification and Hamiltonian tomography

Candidates are reminded that they are required to return their form giving choices of examination papers and essay (if any) to the Faculty Office, Room B1.29, Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Wilberforce Road, by Friday, 1 May 2009. Please note that this deadline will be strictly adhered to.
