Second Report of the General Board on Senior Academic Promotions 2008

The GENERAL BOARD beg leave to report to the University as follows:

1. The senior academic promotions exercise in respect of promotions to take effect from 1 October 2008 was completed in May 2008 (Reporter, 2007-08, p. 820).

2. The General Board have received and considered reports from the Appeals Committee in respect of appeals which were upheld under the provisions of section 11.14.1 and 11.14.2 of the Procedure and Guidance for Senior Academic Promotions 2008.

3. The General Board now propose the establishment of a Professorship for Dr R. H. S. Carpenter of the Department of Physiology, Development, and Neuroscience, with effect from 1 October 2008, following a successful appeal against the consideration of his application in the 2008 exercise. The additional cost of £9,000 will be a charge on central funds available for funding promotions.

4. The General Board recommend:

That, with effect from 1 October 2008, a Professorship be established in the Department of Physiology, Development, and Neuroscience for one tenure for Dr Roger Hugh Stephen Carpenter, of Gonville and Caius College, and placed in Schedule B of the Statutes.
