Historical Tripos, Part II, 2009

The Faculty Board of History give notice that, with effect from the examinations to be held in 2009, the form of the examinations for the following papers of the Historical Tripos will be as follows:

Part II

Section B

Political Thought

Paper 3. The history of political thought to c. 1700

Candidates for Part II of the Historical Tripos who are also offering Special Subject E (Locke's Politics, 1660-1710) may not offer the following starred questions:

Section A: Question 15
Section B: Questions 26, 27, and 28

Section D

Topics in English or European or English and European History

Paper 15. Jewish presence in medieval society

There will be one three-hour examination paper. Candidates will be required to answer three questions.

Paper 19. Ireland since the famine

There will be one three-hour examination paper. Candidates will be required to answer three questions (see also above).

Paper 20. The politics of heritage in Europe, c. 1707- c. 2008

There will be one three-hour examination paper. Candidates will be required to answer three questions.

Sections C, D, and E

A limit to the number of questions has been set at eighteen (either/or questions counting as two) with the exception of Papers 6, 25, 26, 28, and 29, for which the limit is twenty-four (either/or questions counting as two).

All other papers remain unchanged.
