DOMESTIC BURSAR

Somerville College invites applications to the post of Domestic Bursar with a view to commencing the appointment in April 2009, or as soon as possible thereafter. The College intends to offer a Fellowship associated with this post.

This is a senior administrative position with responsibility for ensuring that the academic purpose and collegiate atmosphere of the College are supported by the services for which the Domestic Bursar is responsible.

The successful candidate will be respectful of the College's traditions whilst at the same time be willing to be innovative in approach. He/she will have significant experience of facilities management at a senior level within the service sector, be able to communicate easily and effectively at all levels, and be able to achieve a satisfactory balance between the differing needs of the various groups of College members.

The post-holder will be required to oversee the development of the College's conference business, to manage budgets, and to prepare forecasts and reports for presentation to the Finance Committee and Governing Body. Experience of managing budgets and working within committee structures would therefore be desirable.

The salary for this post is aligned to Band 10 of the Somerville College Pay Spine with a starting salary of £47,666.
