Economics Tripos

The Faculty Board of Economics give notice that, with effect from the examinations to be held in 2009, the form of the examination for the following papers for the Economics Tripos will be changed as follows:

Part I

Paper 1. Microeconomics

The number of questions in Section A has been reduced from ten to six; candidates will be required to answer all six questions. Section B remains unchanged; candidates will still be required to answer two questions from a choice of six.

Paper 2. Macroeconomics

The number of questions in Section A has been reduced from ten to six; candidates will be required to answer all six questions. Section B remains unchanged; candidates will still be required to answer two questions from a choice of six.

Paper 3. Quantitative methods in economics

The examination comprises four sections. Sections A and B are on mathematics; Sections C and D are on statistics. The number of questions in Sections A and C has been reduced from six to four; candidates will be required to answer all four questions in each of these sections. Sections B and D remain unchanged; candidates will still be required to answer one question from a choice of two in each of these sections.

Part IIB

Paper 6. Banking, money, and finance

The examination will be divided into two sections. Section A contains consumer finance, international finance, and banking. Section B contains finance. Candidates will be required to answer four questions: two questions from Section A and two questions from Section B.
