Magdalen College

FELLOWSHIP BY EXAMINATION 2008-09

The College proposes to elect, in February 2009, one or two Fellows by Examination. Candidates should have a good Honours degree or its equivalent and have completed, or be near to completing, a doctorate or other post-graduate research. They will already have demonstrated outstanding promise in their chosen field. In any event the candidate must not have completed more than four years of graduate study by 1 October 2008. There is no restriction on the number of times an applicant may apply for this post. Applications are encouraged from all countries and all research universities in all subjects.

Each Fellowship is tenable for three years at a stipend starting at £18,629 a year with increments in the second and third years. The Fellow is a member of the Governing Body of the College and is entitled to free lunches and dinners, to a research allowance, and either to free single accommodation, or to a discretionary housing allowance, currently set at £10,000 a year. It is likely that successful candidates will be required to live within a certain radius of Oxford during the period of their appointment.

Application forms and further particulars can be obtained from the Administrative Secretary, Magdalen College, Oxford, OX1 4AU (tel. +44 (0)1865 276060, email elizabeth.martin@magd.ox.ac.uk) or via the website (http://www.magd.ox.ac.uk/vacancies/). The closing date is Monday, 13 October 2008.

The College exists to promote excellence in education and research, and is an equal opportunities employer.
