COLLEGE RESEARCH ASSOCIATES

The College intends to appoint up to four College Research Associates during the course of Michaelmas Term 2008. Candidates must at the time of appointment be of post-doctoral standing, and may be graduates of any university. They must at the time of appointment be employed by, or otherwise working in, the University of Cambridge in a research role. There are no conditions of age or subject attached to these positions, but candidates would normally be early in their research or teaching career. In respect of two of the positions, preference will normally be given to members of Jesus College. Candidates will be selected by reference to their ability to contribute to the intellectual, educational, and social life of the College.

The College Research Associate position will normally be tenable for a period of three years, but will be co-terminus with a University of Cambridge appointment. No stipend or honorarium will be payable and no room or accommodation will be provided, but various benefits will be available, details of which will be provided to applicants. The positions will not carry any teaching obligations, but if any supervision is carried out for the College, these will be paid for at the standard rates plus the same mark-up as is applicable to Fellows of the College.

Application forms may be obtained from the Master's Office (CRA), Jesus College, Cambridge, CB5 8BL (email cra@jesus.cam.ac.uk), or from the College website (http://www.jesus.cam.ac.uk/jobs/). Applications must be received by Friday, 29 August 2008, together with a curriculum vitae, the names of two referees, and a statement of not more than 500 words (intelligible to a non-specialist) outlining present and future research and/or teaching plans.

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed on the afternoon of Thursday, 6 November 2008 only.
