Director of Undergraduate Recruitment: Notice

The University of Cambridge is one of the most distinguished universities in the world. It receives some 14,000 applications annually for c. 3,500 undergraduate places in its 31 Colleges. The University is now seeking to appoint to the new role of Director of Undergraduate Recruitment to ensure that it continues to recruit the very best undergraduate students with the strongest academic potential, in this rapidly changing and increasingly competitive world. This is a critical appointment for the University.

The new Director will lead the University's efforts to encourage applications from the broadest population of qualified prospective students. As head of the Cambridge Admissions Office, he/she will direct and coordinate recruitment activities across the University, and will focus on reaching under-represented groups as part of the University's widening participation agenda. The incumbent will work closely with the Director of Admissions for the Colleges. The Director will liaise regularly with senior members of the University, the Colleges (with whom admissions decisions rest), Departments and Faculties, government, national agencies, and the media.

The appointed candidate will have a good understanding of the UK higher education world and will be broadly familiar with access and admissions issues. While not essential, some marketing expertise and/or previous experience of recruitment would be helpful. The successful candidate will be a creative and resilient relationship-builder with superb analytical and interpersonal skills.
