regulations for examinations

The General Board give notice that, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board or other authority concerned, the regulations for certain University examinations have been amended as follows:

Anglo-Saxon, Norse, and Celtic Tripos

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 244)

With effect from 1 October 2008

In order to reflect current practice and make consistent the treatment of candidates for Part I and Part II of the Anglo-Saxon, Norse, and Celtic Tripos in respect of approval of the dissertation topic, Regulation 13(c) for Part I of the Tripos has been amended to allow the Head of Department to approve the dissertation topic in place of the Faculty Board.

Regulation 13(c).

By amending the regulation so as to read:
(c)a candidate may submit in place of any one of the papers required under this regulation a dissertation on a topic approved by the Head of the Department of Anglo-Saxon, Norse, and Celtic which falls within the scope of one or more of Papers 1-10.

With effect from 1 October 2009

The word lengths for Part I and Part II dissertations in the Tripos have been amended as follows:

Regulation 17(c).

By amending the first sentence of the regulation so as to read:
(c) A Part I dissertation shall be of not fewer than 7,000 and not more than 10,000 words in length, and a Part II dissertation shall be of not fewer than 9,000 and not more than 12,000 words in length, including appendices but excluding bibliography.
