Worcester College

CHAPLAIN

Worcester College invites applications from men and women in Priest's orders in the Church of England or the wider Anglican Communion to serve as Chaplain with effect from 1 September 2008 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post will be regarded, in career development terms, as equivalent to a second curacy: it is expected that the person appointed will serve for 3 to 5 years. The first year is probationary.

The Chaplain is responsible to the Governing Body for the conduct of services in Chapel and for the administration of Chapel affairs, and will have a strong interest in the musical life of the Chapel. The Chaplain is expected to be available to all members of the College - of any denomination or faith, or of none - for consultation on pastoral matters, and is a member of the College's Welfare Committees. The successful candidate will be expected to have strong academic interests, and to engage in academic work in addition to his or her liturgical and pastoral duties. The Chaplain is a full member of the SCR but not of the Governing Body.

The Chaplain will be paid on the relevant Oxford Diocesan scale. Accommodation may be available in College; if not, the Oxford Diocesan housing allowance will be paid. The post is pensionable.

Further particulars and application details are available on the notice section of the College's website (http://www.worc.ox.ac.uk/) or from the Provost's Secretary (tel. 01865 278362; fax 01865 793106; email deborah.atsoparthis@worc.ox.ac.uk). Applications should include a covering letter, application cover form, curriculum vitae, and the names of three referees who should be asked by the applicant to send their references to the Provost's Secretary so as to arrive by the closing date of 16 June 2008: no reminders will be sent.

The College is an equal opportunities employer.
