MUSIC DIRECTOR

Fitzwilliam College invites applications for a Music Director with effect from 1 September 2008. The current Director, Dr Michael Downes, has been appointed as Director of Music at the University of St Andrews from that date. The Music Director will provide guidance, coordination and motivation to students involved in music-making in College and will work in consultation with the Senior Officers of the Music Society.

The appointment is from 1 September 2008 for three years in the first instance. The stipend will be not less than £11,000 a year. In addition, study accommodation is allocated without charge. The post is not pensionable. The Music Director will be a Bye-Fellow of the College. This is a part-time post, the main responsibilities of which fall during University terms. The successful candidate will need to assure the College that these are compatible with other professional commitments. If appropriately qualified, the successful candidate may be invited to take on the additional post of Director of Studies in Music (for students reading for the Music Tripos) for which an honorarium (£680) is paid.
