TEACHING FELLOWSHIPS IN CHEMISTRY

New Hall intends to appoint to a College Lectureship and Official Fellowship one or two individuals holding a research or teaching appointment in the Department of Chemistry or another closely related University laboratory. Those appointed will be expected to teach undergraduates for three or four hours a week for the twenty teaching weeks of the year, and to contribute to the academic life and running of the College; there is a need also for one to act as Director of Studies organizing a substantial part of the College's provision for students reading physical subjects in the Natural Sciences Tripos (including arranging teaching and interviewing applicants for places). Fellows receive a salary 20% above the usual rates for their teaching, sabbatical leave entitlement, a Fellowship Allowance (currently £1,415 a year), and various other benefits; directing studies is independently remunerated. The post will suit those with an interest in advancing their subject through undergraduate teaching as well as research.

The posts are open to men and women; appointment will be for up to three years in the first instance, with the possibility of reappointment. Further particulars can be obtained from the President's Secretary, New Hall, Cambridge CB3 0DF (tel. 01223 762227, email skg22@cam.ac.uk). Applications should be submitted, with supporting references and curriculum vitae, by Friday, 9 May 2008.
