SUPERNUMERARY TEACHING FELLOWSHIP IN ECONOMICS

St John's College invites applications from suitably qualified men and women for a five-year fixed-term Supernumerary Teaching Fellowship in Economics (without membership of Governing Body), with effect from 1 October 2008. The person appointed will be expected to teach undergraduates up to a maximum of eight hours each week during term, and to play a full part in the organization of economics teaching in St John's for undergraduates reading for degrees in Economics and Management; Engineering, Economics, and Management; History and Economics; and Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE).

Candidates must be able to contribute to the teaching of the Introductory and Core Papers in Economics. Details of the undergraduate syllabus in Economics can be found at http://www.economics.ox.ac.uk/. The Fellow will also be expected to share administrative and pastoral duties and to share in the undergraduate admissions process.

SUPERNUMERARY TEACHING FELLOWSHIP IN PSYCHOLOGY

St John's College invites applications from suitably qualified men and women for a five-year fixed-term Supernumerary Teaching Fellowship in Psychology (without membership of Governing Body), with effect from 1 October 2008. The person appointed will be expected to teach undergraduates up to a maximum of eight hours each week during term, and to play a full part in the organization of psychology teaching in St John's for undergraduates reading for degrees in Experimental Psychology and in Psychology, Philosophy, and Physiology (PPP).

Candidates must be able to contribute to the teaching of the PPP Preliminary Paper in Psychology and at least two of the Core Papers in Psychology (Part I), not including Developmental Psychology or Language and Cognition. There is also the possibility of contributing to the teaching of a Part II paper, and of supervising third-year research projects. The Fellow will also be expected to share administrative and pastoral duties and to share in the undergraduate admissions process. This is a full-time position based in St John's College although it is anticipated that the appointee may wish to interact with relevant research groups in the Department of Experimental Psychology.

Election to the above Fellowships will be for one year in the first instance, renewable subject to a satisfactory report on the specific duties. No duties are required for the University, and the approval of the College must be sought before any are undertaken. A year of sabbatical leave will be offered as the final year of the appointment to permit the Fellows to further their research.

For both Fellowships, the person appointed will have obtained his or her doctorate by 1 October 2008, and will be expected to engage in original research. The annual salary will be on the incremental scale of £25,889 to £30,913.
