Graces submitted to the Regent House on 6 February 2008

The Council submits the following Graces to the Regent House. These Graces, other than any which is withdrawn or for which a ballot is requested in accordance with the regulations for Graces of the Regent House (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 109), will be deemed to have been approved at 4 p.m. on Friday, 15 February 2008.

1. That the regulations for payments to Examiners and Assessors, as amended by Grace 3 of 7 November 2007, be further amended as follows:1

Regulation 3.

(b) Oral Examinations

By inserting in group (i) after Part IA of the Law Tripos, 'the Preliminary Examination for Part I of the Education Tripos,' and in group (ii) by inserting after Part II of the Oriental Studies Tripos ', and Part II of the Education Tripos'.

(c) Practical examinations of the Music Tripos and the Education Studies Tripos

By amending this section so as to read:

(c) Practical examinations of the Music Tripos, the Education Tripos, and the Education Studies Tripos
(i) Aural tests and keyboard tests for Part IA of the Music Tripos 
  For each candidate examined£5
(ii) Performance tests and keyboards tests for Part IB of the Music Tripos, the Preliminary Examinations in Education, and Parts I and II of the Education Tripos 
  For each candidate examined£6
(iii) Practical rehearsal and practical examination for the Preliminary Examinations in Education and Part I of the Education Tripos 
  For each candidate examined£6
(iv) Performance tests for Part II of the Music Tripos, Part II of the Education Tripos, and Part II of the Education Studies Tripos 
  For each half day spent acting as an Assessor£75
  For each half day spent acting as an External Assessor (additional payment)£75

2. That the regulations for review of the results of examinations for postgraduate qualifications be amended as follows:2

Regulation 7.

By amending this regulation so as to read:

7. The Academic Secretary, or a deputy appointed by the Academic Secretary, shall act as Secretary of a Review Committee.

Regulation 11.

By inserting in the penultimate line after the words 'Graduate Union' the words ', a sabbatical officer of Cambridge University Students Union,'.

3. That the recommendations in paragraph 12 of the Third Report of the Council, dated 10 December 2007, on amendments of Statute G, II (Financial relations between the University and the Colleges: the Colleges Fund) (Reporter, 2007-08, p. 372) be approved.3

The Board of Graduate Studies, after consultation with the Graduate Union, have recommended that a complainant under these regulations should, if he or she prefers, additionally be able to choose a representative of the Cambridge University Students Union as an adviser. The opportunity has been taken to revise Regulation 7 to amend a reference to the Secretary General of the Faculties.
