CORPUS CHRISTI PROFESSORSHIP OF THE LATIN LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE

He or she will be expected to provide academic leadership over a wide range of Latin literature, to play a major part in the supervision and encouragement of graduate students, to play a full role in examining and in the administration of the Faculty, to deliver undergraduate lectures, and to foster and develop contacts both with other disciplines within Oxford and with the classical community both in the United Kingdom and abroad.

A non-stipendiary Professorial Fellowship at Corpus Christi College is attached to the Professorship.

DRUMMOND PROFESSORSHIP OF POLITICAL ECONOMY

Applications are invited for the above post, tenable from 1 October 2008, or as soon as possible thereafter. The Professorship will be held in the Department of Economics and is attached to a non-stipendiary Professorial Fellowship at All Souls College.

The University is seeking an outstanding scholar, with a distinguished research profile in economics and an international reputation in his or her area of expertise.

The Professor will be expected to initiate and lead a programme of research and teaching at the highest level. He or she will be able to provide academic leadership, to demonstrate excellence in teaching and supervision at all levels, and to contribute to the long-term development of economics in the Department and in the wider academic community.

UNIVERSITY LECTURESHIP (NON-TUTORIAL FELLOW) IN GERMAN LINGUISTICS

The University in association with St Hilda's College proposes to appoint a University Lecturer in German Linguistics in the Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages from 1 October 2008 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post is associated with a Supernumerary (Non-Tutorial) Fellowship at St Hilda's College.

The successful candidate should have a research record of international standing appropriate to the stage of the candidate's career with evidence of or, exceptionally, evidence of potential for producing distinguished research in the field of German linguistics. Preference may be given to a specialist in the field of socio-linguistics but candidates in all areas of linguistic study are invited to apply. Early career applicants should show outstanding research potential.

Candidates should be able to contribute to the teaching of German linguistics at all levels of the undergraduate degree, and to participate in graduate courses and supervision. Candidates should have an excellent knowledge of German and must be sufficiently proficient in English to carry out teaching, writing, and administration in that language. The salary will be on the scale £39,159 to £52,628 a year.
