The Faculty Board of Social and Political Sciences give notice that, with effect from the examinations to be held in 2008, the form of the examination for the following papers in Parts IIA and IIB of the Social and Political Sciences Tripos will be changed as follows:
The examination paper will be divided into five sections: (a) the development of the modern state; (b) the Iranian revolution; (c) the Rwandan genocide; (d) the Kyoto protocol; and (e) the EU constitutional treaty. The paper will consist of sixteen (not eighteen) questions, with eight questions in Section (a) and two questions in each of the other sections. Candidates will be required to answer three questions, taking each from a different section.
The examination will consist of a three-hour written paper. Candidates will be required to answer three questions from a choice of at least twelve. The paper will be undivided.
The examination paper will be divided into two sections: (a) domestic European politics, and (b) European integration. The paper will consist of twelve questions, with six questions in each of the sections. Candidates will be required to answer three questions, taking at least one from each section.
The examination paper will consist of eighteen questions, divided into three sections each containing six questions. Candidates must answer one question from each of the three different sections: (a) judgement and the history of political thought; (b) judgement and modern political theory; and (c) thematic issues in the ethics of political judgement. This is a new course, so there are no changes to previous examination papers; a mock examination paper will, however, be available for students taking this paper.
The examination paper will be divided into two sections: (a) the politics of China, and (b) the politics of Southeast Asia. The paper will consist of twelve questions, with six questions in each of the sections. Candidates will be required to answer three questions, taking at least one from each section.
The examination will consist of a three-hour written paper. Candidates will be required to answer three questions from a choice of at least nine. The paper will be undivided.
One component of this paper has been changed. Instead of questions on 'Digitization in context', there will be questions on 'Music, sound, and society'. The paper remains undivided.
One component of this paper has been changed. There will be additional questions on the late colonial period in South Asia (c. 1920-47). The paper will be undivided, and will consist of at least 22 questions.
