Establishment of a Council Remuneration Committee: Notice

26 November 2007

The Council has responsibilities in connection with the determination of the stipends and salaries of some senior University staff, including the approval of market supplements over 10% for professorial and equivalent staff. In order to improve scrutiny, accountability, and transparency in discharging these responsibilities the Council has established a Remuneration Committee with the following composition, which will normally deal with such business on behalf of the Council or recommend proposals to it, subject to proper reporting protocols:

Chair: an external member of the Council (but not the chair of the Audit Committee);

The Vice-Chancellor (except when matters relating to the office of Vice-Chancellor are under consideration);

Three other members of the Council: one from each of classes (a) (Heads of Colleges), (b) (Professors and Readers), and (c) (other members of the Regent House).
