New College

THE WARDENSHIP

New College proposes to elect a Warden with effect from 1 September 2009, following the retirement of Professor Alan Ryan, D.Litt., FBA.

New College is one of the older and larger of the Colleges of Oxford University. The Warden is the head of the College, with ultimate responsibility for its effective operation as a place of education and scholarship, for its discipline, and for the safety and well-being of all its members. The College seeks a Warden who will provide academic leadership, strategic vision, and a sustained interest in the day-to-day life of the College.

This is a permanent, full-time position which may be held until the statutory retirement age of 70. The College offers an attractive remuneration package, including a competitive salary, additional allowances, health insurance, and residential accommodation.

The College welcomes both direct applications and nominations of candidates. Further particulars, setting out the duties of the post, the qualities sought, and the full remuneration details, may be obtained from Ms Barbara Vardag, College Secretary, New College, Oxford, OX1 3BN (e-mail barbara.vardag@new.ox.ac.uk), or may be downloaded from the Job Vacancies page of the College website at http://www.new.ox.ac.uk/. The deadline for receipt of applications is 11 January 2008. The College hopes to reach a final decision by June 2008.

Potential candidates wishing to discuss any aspect of the post informally may contact the Sub-Warden, Dr Martin Williams, in complete confidence (tel. 01865 273102, e-mail martin.williams@new.ox.ac.uk).
