THE GREENDALE SCHOLARSHIP

Merton College is offering one Greendale Scholarship in 2008. The Scholarship is intended to assist a Swiss national or resident of outstanding academic excellence to study at the University of Oxford. It covers College and University fees, and a maintenance grant equivalent to that of the University's Clarendon Fund scholarship (£9,750 in 2007-08), net of accommodation charges where applicable. Subject to satisfactory progress and the requirements of the particular programme of study, the Scholarship will be tenable for up to four years.

The competition is open to applicants who meet all of the following conditions: have completed their first degree at a Swiss university between 1 May 2005 and 1 October 2008; are Swiss nationals or residents i.e. hold a category 'B' or a category 'C' residence permit issued by the government of Switzerland; have undertaken not more than two years of postgraduate study or research; are intending to start a course of study leading to a degree or formal qualification from the University of Oxford starting in October 2008 in any of the subjects normally acceptable for graduate study at the College, apart from Medicine and the M.B.A.; have no other funding which would allow them to do so.

The closing date for this competition is 18 January 2008. Applicants should already have been offered places by the relevant Faculty or Department of the University or should be in the competition for the third cycle of Oxford graduate admissions. Applicants who have not been accepted by the relevant Faculty or Department of the University by 21 March 2008 will be rejected.
