On Monday, 29 October at 5.30 p.m. in the new venue of the Bristol-Myers Squibb Lecture Theatre, Department of Chemistry, Lensfield Road, Professor Oliver Rackham, OBE, FBA, of the Department of Plant Sciences, will deliver a lecture entitled Threats to woodland: present and future. All who are interested are invited.

At a meeting held on 15 October in the Bristol-Myers Squibb Theatre, Professor T. J. Pedley, President, was in the Chair. Professor Robert C. Kennicutt Jr delivered the Larmor Lecture, entitled Dark ages to dark endings: the life cycles of galaxies. A vote of thanks was moved by Professor Andrew Fabian.
