Christ's College

JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP (STIPENDIARY)

Christ's College invites applications for a Todd-Croucher Fellowship, which is available only to persons with the status of 'permanent resident' of Hong Kong, and working in the fields of Science, Technology, and Medicine. The Fellowship is tenable for a period of four years from 1 October 2008.

Applicants should hold a first honours degree, or higher degree, from a university in the British Isles or Hong Kong, and have recently completed a Ph.D. Degree, or be near to completion. Candidates should not have completed more than twelve terms of full-time research work. Applicants will be asked to provide a statement from the Head of Department in which they wish to work, or are currently working, that laboratory facilities will be available to them for the tenure of the Fellowship.

A limited amount of teaching for the College may be available, and would be paid for at the normal College supervision rates.

The initial stipend for a Todd-Croucher Research Fellow living in College is currently £13,739 (without a Ph.D.) or £15,743 (with a Ph.D.), rising by three annual increments to £17,152 or £19,264 respectively. Fellows living out of College receive a supplement of £1,882 (without a Ph.D.) or £4,116 (with a Ph.D.). Financial support from other sources will be taken into account. Research Fellows are entitled to the use of a room in College and to seven free meals a week. Some research expenses may also be paid.

Further particular are available on the College website at http://www.christs.cam.ac.uk/info/fellowship/, where instructions about the application procedure can be found. The Croucher Foundation is assisting the College in the processing of applications. The College website provides a link to the Foundation's website at http://www.croucher.org.hk/fellow1.htm. Completed application forms and supporting documents must be sent to the Croucher Foundation in Hong Kong (and not to the College) so as to arrive no later than 5 p.m. (Hong Kong time) on 15 November 2007. Late applications cannot be accepted.
