
Examination in Bioscience Enterprise for the M.Phil. Degree, 2007-08: Notice
The Degree Committee for Engineering gives notice of the modules and components available for study for the M.Phil. in Bioscience Enterprise.
Modules and components
The M.Phil. in Bioscience Enterprise comprises five Science and Technology modules, five Business modules, and four Transitionary modules. Students also undertake a Business Internship of four to six weeks' duration in the Easter Term, placed in a relevant commercial environment under the supervision of company and University supervisors. All Bioscience Enterprise modules, components, and lectures are mandatory.
Assessments
Three principle assessments cover material from multiple modules, namely a written paper on a selected topic on science and technology in business (4,000 words), a business plan submission resulting from group work, and a dissertation based on research undertaken during the internship (10,000 words). Further module-specific assessment methods are as detailed below. Written work may comprise all or a selected combination of short report, critical appraisal, or extended paper. Class work may include all or a selected combination of timed examination, report, or audiovisual presentation and may be undertaken as an individual or group exercise. Project work may include individual and/or group research and reporting tasks. Students may be examined by viva voce.
