Changes to the administration of unpaid leave of absence funds and non-pensionable payments: Notice

The Council and the General Board, on the recommendation of the Personnel Committee, have agreed to amend their Notices on leave of absence under Statute D, II, 6(b) (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 642) and on additional payments for administrative responsibility (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 649) to take account of current arrangements. The Notices have been amended as follows:

Leave of Absence under Statute D, II, 6(B)

Savings accruing from the grant of leave without stipend

By amending paragraph 9 so as to read:

9. Any savings that result from a grant of leave without stipend to a University officer will accrue (after deductions have been made, where appropriate, for pension or National Insurance contributions and for certain central administrative costs) in the stipend account for the Faculty, Department, or other institution concerned. The cost of any substitute teaching or full-time replacement required will be met from these savings.

Additional Payments for Administrative Responsibility

Pensionable payment scheme

Paragraph 3.

By deleting the final sentence.

Paragraph 4.

By amending the first sentence so as to read:

Payments to Heads, Deputy Heads, and Chairmen or Secretaries of Faculty Boards not divided into Departments are charged against funds allocated to the relevant School.

Non-pensionable payment scheme

Paragraph 7.

By deleting all the text following the words 'Laser Safety Officer' in line 4.

Paragraph 9.

By amending the first sentence so as to read:

Funding for these payments is made through the annual resource allocation either to the Councils of the Schools, who disperse monies appropriately to Faculties and Departments within their scope, or to institutions under the direct supervision of the Council or General Board.

Paragraph 13.

By replacing in line 5 the words 'The payment would be approved' by the words 'The payment will be approved'.
