STIPENDIARY JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP IN CLASSICAL LANGUAGES AND LITERATURES, ANCIENT HISTORY, AND CLASSICAL ARCHAEOLOGY

University College invites applications for a Junior Research Fellowship in Classical Languages and Literatures, Ancient History, and Classical Archaeology tenable for three years from 1 October 2008. The primary criterion for appointment will be research excellence. Candidates must have a strong educational record; be approaching the end of their doctoral research or have begun postdoctoral study; have research expertise as demonstrated by publications, or demonstrate promise of such achievement; and have a coherent plan of research for the duration of the Fellowship.

Junior Research Fellowships are intended to provide opportunities for outstanding academics at the beginning of their careers. The current stipend for a Junior Research Fellow is £17,925 rising to £18,462 in May 2008 and £18,824 in October 2008. The stipend will normally be paid at a reduced rate if the successful candidate is in receipt of other funding. The Fellow will be offered free meals and single accommodation in College if available, or a housing allowance in lieu (currently £4,500 a year).

STEVENSON JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP IN THE MEDICAL SCIENCES (INCLUDING BIOCHEMISTRY)

University College invites applications from candidates with an outstanding research record for a Junior Research Fellowship in the Medical Sciences. While the College welcomes applications from candidates working in any pre-clinical or clinical area, it would particularly like to recruit in a field in which it has existing expertise and Fellows in post, namely Intracellular Signalling (Dr C. Pears), Neuropharmacology (Dr T. Sharp), Cognitive Neuroscience (Dr N. Yeung), Cardiovascular and Respiratory Physiology (Dr S. Golding and Dr K. Dorrington), Anaesthesia and Biomedical Imaging (Professor P. Jezzard and Dr S. Golding).
