Adrian Research Fellowship in English Literature

Darwin College proposes to elect a stipendiary Adrian Research Fellow from 1 October 2008. The Fellowship is available for research within the field of English Literature and is tenable for four years.

Candidates should be at a relatively early stage in their research careers. Candidates should have been awarded the Ph.D. or an equivalent degree, and be able to present to the electors substantial amounts of written work of outstanding quality, published or unpublished. No candidate should have completed more than seven years of postgraduate research by 1 October 2008.

The successful candidate will be subject to the Statutes and Ordinances of the College, including the obligation to reside in Cambridge for at least two-thirds of each University term, unless excused by the Governing Body. The Adrian Research Fellow will become a member of the Governing Body and will have Fellows' dining rights. It may be possible to provide limited rented accommodation, subject to availability, for which a charge will be made. An annual allowance will be available for travel and research expenses. The closing date for applications is 15 October 2007.

Microsoft Research Fellowship

The Governing Body of Darwin College and Microsoft Research Limited jointly invite applications for a stipendiary Research Fellowship supporting research in the field of adaptive computing (including topics such as pattern recognition, probabilistic inference, statistical learning theory, and computer vision). Applicants should hold a Ph.D. Degree or should be expecting to have submitted their thesis prior to commencement of the Fellowship.

The Fellowship will be tenable for two years commencing 1 June 2008 or on a date to be agreed. The successful candidate will work at the Microsoft Research Laboratory in Cambridge. Information about the laboratory is available from their website at http://www.research.microsoft.com/cambridge. The Microsoft Research Fellow will become a member of the Governing Body and will have dining rights. The closing date for applications is 15 October 2007.

Schlumberger Interdisciplinary Research Fellowship

Applications are invited for a non-stipendiary Research Fellowship sponsored by Schlumberger Cambridge Research Limited and tenable at Darwin College. Candidates' research interests may be in the physical or biological sciences, mathematics, information sciences or the social and economic aspects of technology and technology management. Candidates will be expected to pursue interdisciplinary research across one or more lines of inquiry during the tenure of the Fellowship. The Fellowship will begin on 1 October 2008 or on a date to be agreed, and is for two years.

The Fellowship is open to men and women from any university, irrespective of age, without limitation of subject and is intended for outstanding researchers who are completing, or who have recently completed, their Ph.D. Degree. No candidate should have completed in total more than seven years of postgraduate research by 1 October 2008. The Schlumberger Research Fellow will become a member of the Governing Body and will have dining rights. The closing date for applications is 15 October 2007.

Non-stipendiary Research Fellowships

The Governing Body of Darwin College proposes to elect a number of non-stipendiary Research Fellows, without limitation of subject, tenable for three years from 1 October 2008.

The Fellowships are open to men and women from any university, irrespective of age, without limitation of subject and are intended for outstanding researchers who are completing, or who have recently completed, their Ph.D. Degree. No candidate should have completed in total more than seven years of postgraduate research by 1 October 2008. The Research Fellow will become a member of the Governing Body and will have dining rights. The closing date for applications is 4 January 2008.
