The Fund has been established in memory of Professor John Stanley Gardiner. The Fund's income is to be used for the furtherance of research in Zoology by the endowment of Studentships to be called John Stanley Gardiner Studentships. The Studentships are open to any British subject or Commonwealth citizen who is ordinarily resident outside Europe but within the Commonwealth of Nations. A Student who is not a member of the University must become such before the end of the term next after the election and must remain such during his or her tenure. The Student will study in the Department of Zoology unless otherwise authorised by the Managers.
