CRUK Cambridge Research Institute

SCIENTIFIC OFFICER

Applications are invited for a Scientific Officer within the Molecular Imaging core facility at the newly opened CRUK Cambridge Research Institute (http://science.cancerresearchuk.org/cri/).

The Institute is interested in developing innovative reporter transgene-based strategies to non-invasively investigate diverse aspects of in vivo tumour biology and to measure how this biology is affected by treatment. Accordingly, the Institute wishes to recruit an enthusiastic individual to play a key role in the development of new research methodologies that will facilitate imaging of advanced tumour models with genetically encoded reporters.

An additional role will be to provide assistance (as required) to other members of staff at the CRI who plan to employ genetically encoded reporters in their own independent research programmes.

The successful candidate will possess a good degree in the biological sciences and will ideally possess extensive practical molecular biology or mammalian cell culture experience. Previous experience with any non-invasive imaging modality would be desirable, but not essential as full training will be provided. In addition to possessing initiative and creativity in relation to their work, it is essential that candidates also possess excellent communication skills and are comfortable working together with other members of the group.

This position is available immediately, is permanently funded, and comprises an excellent opportunity for a highly-motivated individual to further develop his/her research skills across a broad variety of disciplines. The salary will be in the range of £19,300 to £29,900 a year.
