The Manciple is an important new post for Sidney Sussex College. This friendly and progressive College seeks to appoint a candidate with vision who will ensure that its facilities realize their commercial potential, while remaining sensitive to the College's academic priorities.
The Manciple will oversee the delivery of catering, conference, and residential services to the College, and take overall responsibility for the management and administration off our departments: Kitchen, Buttery, Housekeeping, and Conference Office. S/he will work closely with the skilled and successful heads of these departments, and will also liaise with the Senior Bursar and College Accountant regarding budgeting and financial management. The implementation and maintenance of detailed business plans will contribute to the College's development plans.
Candidates must have first-rate communication, people-management, and team-leading skills, and keen financial and business acumen. The successful candidate will have an extensive understanding and experience of commercial conference, catering, and residential services, and sensitivity to their provision within an academic institution. Experience in an academic (or similar) environment would be advantageous, but is not essential.
