Keble College invites applications for a Stipendiary Lectureship in Philosophy for Hilary Term 2007. The successful candidate will be expected to provide eight hours of tutorial teaching for undergraduates a week. The Lecturer will be required to teach the General Philosophy, Mill, and (preferably) Logic components of the Prelims paper, and the Ethics and History of Philosophy papers for Schools.
Teaching competence in other areas is welcome but not required. Further details of these papers may be found on the Faculty website at http://www.philosophy.ox.ac.uk/. In addition, the person appointed will be required to take on the administrative duties of Director of Studies for Philosophy students, to set and mark College examinations, and to assist colleagues with the pastoral care of undergraduates reading Philosophy and its associated Joint Schools. Candidates are likely to have a doctorate, or equivalent qualification, or be on course to obtaining one in the near future. The salary will be on the full-time Stipendiary Lecturers' salary scale (pro rata) from £20,842 to £22,111, depending upon experience. The Lecturer will be entitled to eight free meals a week and the use of a shared teaching room. In addition, the post-holder will receive a personal academic allowance of £75 and a student entertainment allowance of £136 for the purpose of entertaining undergraduates.
