Examinations in American Literature and in English Studies for the degree of Master of Philosophy

(Statutes and Ordinances, pp. 461 and 473)

With effect from 1 October 2006

The Degree Committee for the Faculty of English have amended the regulations for the examinations in American Literature and in English Studies for the M.Phil. Degree so that the requirements for the examinations are comparable. The type of exercises and the length of the essays and thesis to be submitted for these examinations have been amended. The regulations have accordingly been amended so as to read:

American Literature

1. The scheme of examination for the one-year course of study in American Literature for the Degree of Master of Philosophy shall consist of:

2. The examination may include, at the discretion of the Examiners, an oral examination on the thesis and on the general field of knowledge within which it falls; such an oral examination may include questions relating to the other work submitted by the candidate under (a) and (b) above.

English Studies
