DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT, WITH SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITY UNDER THE 'CAMPAIGN OF CAMPAIGNS' FOR HUMANITIES

Wolfson College has been synonymous with philanthropic giving from its outset. Founded by the late Sir Isaiah Berlin, its history of philanthropy has now created a unique postgraduate community.

This exciting new role will focus on raising funds to improve research and accommodation facilities at Wolfson College, whilst simultaneously working on enhancing the profile of Humanities at the University of Oxford as part of the Comprehensive Campaign. The post-holder will head the development function within the College, with special responsibilities for the division of Humanities. The post-holder's time will be split 3:2 (Wolfson:Humanities).

Reporting to the Principal of Wolfson College and the University's Director of Development, key relationships will also be developed with senior members of the College, Head of Development Humanities, Head of the Humanities Division, and senior members of the Development office and Alumni Relations teams. Based in Wolfson College and the University's Central Development Office, accounting, database, research, and proposal-writing support services will be provided. The University offers the opportunity for career development within the Development structure.

Key requirements for this post include an ability to plan strategically, to identify and work with professional and academic colleagues when cultivating prospects and soliciting major gifts. The successful candidate will be an experienced fund-raiser with the capability to represent the University at the highest levels, and promote and excite interest when working with donors. His/her experience will ideally have been gained in the not-for-profit sector.

The successful candidate will be an experienced team player and will be able to think strategically in advance and under pressure. An opportunistic attitude coupled with a flexible working style will ensure his/her success as the Director of Development for this established College. A passion for excellence in higher education is essential.
