COLLEGE LECTURESHIP AND FELLOWSHIP IN ECONOMICS

Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants for a College Lectureship in any branch of Economics, associated with a Fellowship of Christ's College.

The Lectureship will be for a fixed term and tenable from 1 January 2007 (or as soon as possible thereafter) to a fixed date of 31 August 2011. The successful candidate will be expected to reside in Cambridge, to undertake at least eight hours of small-group undergraduate teaching a week for the College during Full Term (equivalent to 160 hours per academical year), to act as a Director of Studies in Economics if requested to do so by the College Council, and to undertake research. Candidates should be able to teach for a range of undergraduate papers in the Economics Tripos: details of the papers concerned are given in the further particulars on the College website. The basic stipend for a College Teaching Officer will be at an appropriate point on a scale of £23,457 to £31,524, if the Fellow is not resident in College, or £19,938 to £26,796, if the Fellow is resident in College. The basic stipend may be supplemented by additional teaching, which would be paid for at the normal hourly rates for College supervision. A reduced teaching load (subject to a minimum of 120 hours per academical year) may be negotiated, with an appropriate reduction in stipend.

Further particulars are available on the College website at http://www.christs.cam.ac.uk/people/jobs/economics/, or may be requested from the Master's Assistant, Christ's College, Cambridge, CB2 3BU (fax 01223 335747, e-mail scn23@cam.ac.uk). Letters of application (no forms) should be sent to the Master's Assistant, as soon as possible, to arrive no later than 6 November 2006. These should include a curriculum vitae with details of qualifications, publications, and experience, and the names and addresses of two persons who have agreed to act as academic referees. Candidates will need to arrange for their referees to write or e-mail directly to the Master's Assistant so that references are received by the closing date of 6 November. Short-listed candidates will be invited for interviews expected to be held on 16 November. The successful candidate should be active in research and would be encouraged to take a full part in the activities of the Faculty of Economics. Please see http://www.econ.cam.ac.uk/ for further details of the research activities of the Faculty.
