SENIOR BURSAR

The College is seeking to recruit to the post of Senior Bursar, its Chief Financial Officer, responsible for the efficient and effective financial management of all aspects of its affairs. Working with professional advisors, the Senior Bursar supports the Fellows in their decisions on the strategic and operational management of the College's endowment, ensures that appropriate structures and processes are in place for the effective administration of the College, and is responsible for the efficient operation of all financial and property operations including the identification and delivery of new business opportunities. The Senior Bursar also contributes to the work of the Development Director in promoting and delivering a successful programme of fund-raising activities. The current incumbent in addition has oversight of the College Archive, including records management and data protection, and of Computing. The post is supported by a team of committed professional staff. The Senior Bursar also plays an important representational role on behalf of the College in the wider University and in the city of Cambridge.

This is a broadly based and complex role requiring significant financial management understanding and an aptitude for addressing a range of urgent and unexpected issues. The successful candidate will be strongly sympathetic to the College's mission to support education and research, and will be used to working with professional teams across a portfolio of disciplines. He/she will have the intelligence, cultural flexibility, and personal presence to work effectively with the Master and the Fellowship, of which he/she will be a member. He/she will have a strategic approach, be organized and energetic, and demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.
