FINANCE OFFICER

St John's College, Oxford invites applications for the post of Finance Officer, with effect from 1 October 2006 or as soon as possible thereafter. The Finance Officer, who has four assistants and secretarial support, is the senior financial administrator in the College and is responsible to the Principal Bursar for the discharge of the duties of the post. The appointee will hold a recognized professional qualification in accountancy. In addition to an ability to carry out the necessary financial administrative functions, a broad financial awareness and capacity to assist the Principal Bursar in formulating the College's financial policies and strategy is sought. An ability to work independently is essential.

The person appointed will be elected to a Supernumerary Fellowship of the College. The appointment will be made according to qualifications and experience on the University Academic-related (Administrative) Grade 5 scale which, including allowances, is in the range £46,935 to £58,580 (under review). The appointment is pensionable under the Universities Superannuation Scheme. The initial appointment will be for a probationary period of one year.
