Regulation 8.

By removing the final sentence of this regulation, and by inserting a new Regulation 12 so as to read:

4. That a Walston Fund be established in the University, to be governed by the following regulation:4

Walston Fund

The income of the fund derived from the gift of Sir Charles and Lady Waldstein, accepted by the University in 1911 by Grace 1 of 23 November 1911, and now known as the Walston Fund, shall be applied at the discretion of the Faculty Board of Architecture and History of Art for the advancement of Architectural Studies and the wider teaching of Art History.

1 Statutes and Ordinances, p. 159. The proposed fee rates have been agreed between Universities UK and the authorities of the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. The opportunity has been taken to include recent amendments to postgraduate courses (see the General Board's Notices on pp. 557 and 666).

2 Statutes and Ordinances, p. 692. The successful candidate for this Professorship is unable to take up appointment before 1 October 2006.

3 Statutes and Ordinances, p. 771. Under Statute E, VI, 3 the remainder of the income of the Hulsean Fund, after payments have been made in accordance with Statute E, VI, 2 and after provision has been made for a Hulsean Preachership, Prize, and (if the University so determines) a Lectureship, shall be used towards providing the stipend of the Norris-Hulse Professor. The regulations for the Fund divide the income into ten equal parts: eight to be applied to the stipend of the Professor, one to the Prize, and one to the stipend of the Lecturer. No provision is made in the regulations for the possibility of a surplus building up. Over the last few years circumstances have led to a surplus in the Fund and the Electors to the Preachership and the Lectureship have proposed that this surplus should be made available for the Professorship and that the regulations of the Fund should be amended in order that any future surplus may be utilized in accordance with the Statute.

4 This Fund has hitherto been administered informally. It is proposed to establish it on a formal basis.
