LECTURESHIP IN MODERN EUROPEAN HISTORY

New College and the Faculty of Modern History invite applications for a six-hour College Stipendiary Lectureship in Modern European History, together with a departmental Lectureship in the Faculty of Modern History for one year from 1 October 2006. The post-holder will be required to offer six hours a week of tutorial teaching for New College in Modern European History and to give up to sixteen lectures or classes in the Faculty of Modern History, plus the normal range of pastoral and administrative activities. This post has been created to replace Dr Ruth Harris while she is on leave, so there is no possibility of renewal beyond the academical year 2006-07.

The stipend will be £18,545. The successful candidate will also receive a research allowance of £340, a book allowance of £480, and an entertainment allowance of £155. The appointment will be pensionable under the USS scheme, the Lecturer contributing 6.35% of the stipend and the College 14%. The Lecturer will be a member of the Senior Common Room, entitled to full rights of commons (free lunch and dinner) during term and vacation, and will have a teaching room in College.

Further particulars and an application form may be obtained from the Senior Tutor's secretary, New College, Oxford, OX1 3BN (tel. 01865 279596, fax 01865 279590, e-mail tuition@new.ox.ac.uk). The closing date for receipt of applications is 9 June 2006.
