PROFESSORSHIP OF ANAESTHETICS

Applications are invited for the above post, tenable from 1 April 2006 or such later date as may be arranged. The successful candidate will be a practising anaesthetist or non-clinician, with a strong record of relevant research, especially in the field of anaesthesia, perioperative medicine, intensive care, or pain relief. He or she will have the demonstrable ability to obtain substantial independent external grant support. A non-stipendiary Fellowship at Pembroke College is attached to the Professorship. The closing date for applications is 20 March.

PROFESSORSHIP OF THE PHILOSOPHY OF LAW

Applications are invited for the above post, tenable from 1 October 2006 (or as soon as possible thereafter). The Professorship will be held in the Faculty of Law and is attached to a non-stipendiary Fellowship at Balliol College.

The Professor will be expected to engage in research, and to lecture and give instruction in the philosophy of law. The successful candidate will have a philosophical interest in law of a kind that could be shared with philosophers as well as lawyers. He or she will have an outstanding record of research and publication, and extensive experience of giving lectures, leading seminars and classes, and of supervising higher level research. UNIVERSITY LECTURESHIP IN ETHNOMUSICOLOGY

The University, in association with St John's College, proposes to appoint a University Lecturer in Ethnomusicology, from 1 October 2006 or as soon as possible thereafter. The combined University and College remuneration will be according to age on a scale up to £47,089 a year.

The person appointed will have the potential to enhance the high reputation of the Music Faculty in research and teaching. He or she will have a proven record of scholarship and research at a level of international recognition, or the clear promise of such achievement. He or she will be required to provide a high standard of teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including the supervision of research students, and will be expected to play an active role in Faculty and College administration. An interest in collaboration with the work of the University's musical collections (at the Pitt Rivers Museum, and the Bate Collection of Musical Instruments) is desirable, as is an interest in collaboration with the work of other University Departments or institutes. Consideration will be given to candidates working in any area of ethnomusicology.
