St Catharine's College

COLLEGE LECTURESHIP IN HISTORY

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a College Lectureship in History, tenable for five years in the first instance, to begin from a date no later than 1 October 2006. The College is seeking a specialist in the field of Modern British History (1500 to the present day), including Imperial History, or in American History. The post-holder will be required to undertake twelve hours of College teaching a week during Terms, and will be expected to assume a role as one of the College Directors of Studies in History, for which additional payment is made. College Lecturers are expected to be research active, and are normally elected to a College Fellowship, which carries a range of other benefits and responsibilities. There may be further opportunities to contribute to teaching programmes in the Faculty of History.

FIXED-TERM COLLEGE LECTURESHIP IN ENGLISH

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a fixed-term College Lectureship in English tenable for three years, to begin from a date between 1 July and 1 October 2006. The College wishes to appoint a candidate specializing in literature between 1300 and 1700. The post-holder will be required to undertake twelve hours of College teaching a week during Terms, and would be expected to assume a role as one of the College Directors of Studies in English, for which additional payment is made. College Lecturers are also expected to be active in research, and are normally elected to a College Fellowship, which carries a range of other benefits and responsibilities.

Remuneration for both posts will be at an appropriate point on the scale for University Lecturers depending on qualifications and experience.
