Philosophy Tripos, 2005-06

The Faculty Board of Philosophy gives notice that, with effect from the examinations to be held in 2006, the form of the examinations for certain papers for the Philosophy Tripos will be changed as follows:

Part IA

Paper 1. Metaphysics and philosophy of mind

Candidates are asked to answer three questions out of at least ten set.

Paper 2. Ethics

Candidates are asked to answer three questions out of at least ten set.

Paper 3. Logic

This paper will be divided into two sections:

Section A: Formal logic;

Section B: Philosophical logic.

Candidates are asked to answer three questions out of at least eight set, including at least one from each section.

Paper 4. Set text or texts

The paper will be divided into two sections, one on each of the set authors, and candidates are asked to answer three questions out of at least eight set, including at least one from each section.

Part II

Paper 2. Philosophy of mind

This paper has been suspended for 2006.

Paper 4. History of modern philosophy

Candidates are asked to answer three questions out of at least ten set.

Paper 6. Philosophy of science

This paper has been suspended for 2006.

Paper 12. Essay

Candidates are asked to write on one topic out of at least twenty set.
