ONE-YEAR COLLEGE LECTURESHIP IN ARCHAEOLOGY AND ANTHROPOLOGY

Pembroke College intends to appoint a suitably qualified person to a one-year College Lectureship in Archaeology and Anthropology, to take up the post from 1 January 2006. The successful candidate, appointed to cover a period of sabbatical leave, will be expected to be active in research, to provide direction of studies and supervisions to Pembroke's undergraduates in Archaeology and Anthropology, and to provide supervision as relevant to Pembroke students, primarily those in Part I of the Social and Political Sciences Tripos, who are borrowing Social Anthropology papers from another Tripos.

Applications are invited from Archaeologists and Anthropologists, but the College has a preference for Social Anthropology. The stipend, which is pensionable under the British Universities' Superannuation Scheme (USS), will be at an appropriate point on the University Lecturer pay scale, according to age and experience. The College Lectureship carries with it entitlement to use of an office in Pembroke College, and a range of dining rights and privileges; assistance with accommodation will also be offered, subject to availability. The position is tenable for the calendar year 2006, and is not renewable; it is not associated with a Fellowship.

Applications are due by 1 November 2005. Applicants should use the application form at http://www.pem.cam.ac.uk/jobs, where further particulars are also available. The completed form should be returned along with an explanation of the applicant's research of about 1,000 words suitable for a non-specialist reader and also a statement of published and unpublished work. Applicants should also arrange for two referees to send confidential references to Sally Clowes, the Senior Tutor's Secretary, to reach her by 1 November.
