Election, appointments, reappointments, and grants of title

The following election, appointments, reappointments, and grants of title have been made:

Election

Professor José Luis Lanata, B.A., Buenos Aires, Professor in the Department of Anthropology, University of Buenos Aires, elected Simón Bolívar Professor of Latin-American Studies 2007-08 from 1 October 2007 until 30 September 2008.

Education. Dr Kirstine Black-Hawkins, B.A., Lancaster, P.G.C.E., Hertfordshire College of Higher Education, M.A., East Anglia, Ph.D., Open, appointed from 1 October 2005 until the retiring age.

Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics. Dr Richard John Samworth, M.A., Ph.D., JN, appointed from 1 October 2005 until the retiring age.

Slavonic Studies. Dr Alexander Etkind, B.A., M.A., Ph.D., Leningrad, Ph.D., Helsinki, appointed from 1 September 2005 until the retiring age.

Social Anthropology. Dr Leopold Eftimios A. Howe, DAR, appointed from 1 August 2005 for three years.

Assistant Registraries

University Offices (Academic Division). Mr Andrew Paul Cox and Mr Mark Raymond Smith appointed from 1 August 2005 until the retiring age.

University Offices (Personnel Division). Mrs Sarah Lorna Botcherby, B.Sc., Liverpool, MCIPD, appointed part-time from 1 August 2005 until the retiring age.

Oriental Studies. Mrs Toshimi Boulding, NH, reappointed Lector in Japanese and Ms Emma Lejun Wu reappointed Lector in Chinese from 1 October 2005 for one year.

Associate Dean

Clinical Medicine. Dr Paul William Leopold Siklos, HH, reappointed from 1 December 2005 for five years.

Director

ESRC Centre for Business Research. Professor Alan Hughes, SID, reappointed from 1 October 2005 for five years.

Computer Officer

Biochemistry. Dr Jennifer Caroline Jane Barna, K, reappointed Computer Officer, Grade I, from 1 June 2005 until the retiring age.

Grants of Title

Affiliated Lecturers

Biology. Dr John Stephen Adams and Dr Tessa Muncey have been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 May 2005 for two years.

Economics. Dr Albert Banal-Estañol and Dr Khaled Soufani have been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2005 for one year.

Social and Political Sciences. Dr Michael Rice and Dr Ilna Singh have been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2005 for two years. Dr Nick Baylis has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2005 for a further year. Dr David Solomon Halpern, Dr Mirca Madianou, LC, and Dr Sylvana Tomaselli, JN, have been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2005 for a further two years.
