SCIENCE RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS

Applications are invited for Research Fellowships, tenable from 1 October 2006 for three years, to be held in any science subject. These are open to graduates of any university with no age limit, but are intended to support those at an early stage in their academic careers. They will normally be awarded to candidates who have recently completed their Ph.D. Degree or are close to completion. The competition involves assessment of candidates' submitted work; a small number of candidates are then called for interview. Those interested should note that the standard needed to progress to the later stages of the competition is extremely high. Overseas candidates should also note that the College cannot be responsible for payment of air fares should they be short-listed for interview.

The emoluments of a Fellowship are reviewed annually (in August). The present stipend is on a scale rising by two annual increments from £14,065 to £16,149 a year for a Research Fellow who has not proceeded to the Ph.D. Degree and £15,107 to £17,207 a year for a post-Ph.D. Degree Fellow. Research expenses up to a total of £2,500 over the three years of the Fellowship may be paid.

The closing date for applications is 3 October 2005. Short-listed candidates will be invited to submit work in mid-October, and final interviews will take place on 2 December 2005.
