PROFESSORSHIP OF CANCER GENETICS

The University has decided to establish a Professorship of Cancer Genetics to complement its existing wide-ranging and dynamic genetics programmes.

Applications are invited for this post, tenable from as early a date as possible. The successful candidate will have at least ten years' experience managing cancer genetics research with a comprehensive understanding of contemporary cancer genetics and associated issues. He or she will have a high research profile, with international recognition for achievement in cancer genetics, and a vigorous current research programme. The post-holder may or may not be medically qualified.

A non-stipendiary Fellowship at Brasenose College is attached to the Professorship.

PROFESSORSHIP OF MATERIALS MODELLING

Applications are invited for the above post, tenable from 1 January 2006, or such later date as may be arranged. The University seeks to appoint a person with a record of outstanding international excellence in research in materials modelling who, through leadership and the distinction of his or her contribution to the field, will ensure the pursuit of the highest standards in teaching and research in materials modelling at Oxford and its wide recognition outside. The Professorship of Materials Modelling is held in the Department of Materials.

PROFESSORSHIP OF OLD AGE PSYCHIATRY

Applications are invited for the above newly established post, tenable from 1 October 2005, or such later date as may be arranged. The successful candidate will conduct and develop research into the causes and treatment of psychiatric disorder in the elderly. The appointee will be expected to work synergistically with University researchers in other disciplines, such as epidemiology, clinical trials, neurology, and imaging, to develop a strong portfolio of clinical research. The Professor must be medically qualified and will hold an honorary consultant contract with the Oxfordshire Mental Healthcare NHS Trust.
