TUTORIAL FELLOWSHIP AND CUF LECTURESHIP IN LATIN AND GREEK LITERATURE

Balliol College seeks to elect a suitably qualified applicant to a Tutorial Fellowship in Latin and Greek Literature, to be held in conjunction with a CUF Lectureship in the Faculty of Classics of Oxford University. The appointment will begin from 1 January 2006, or as soon as possible thereafter. Preference will be given to candidates with a research interest in Latin literature; the Faculty has a particular need for expertise in Latin prose literature. The Fellow will be responsible, jointly with the Fellows in Ancient History and Philosophy, for the organization of College teaching in Classics and its Joint Schools with Modern Languages and Oriental Studies; and will teach tutorials and classes in Greek and Latin literature for all undergraduate years. He/she will also be required to contribute to lecturing, examining, and graduate supervision for the Faculty of Classics, and to carry out advanced research.

The joint salary for the post will be on an age-related scale up to a maximum of £45,707 (subject to an increase which is yet to be agreed). Substantial housing allowances are available for the first six years of a Fellow's appointment. Balliol also operates a Joint Equity Scheme to assist Fellows in the purchase of a house.
