Assistant Registrary in the Academic Division of the University Offices with duties in the Board of Graduate Studies

Applications are invited for the post of Assistant Registrary (Admissions Officer) in the Board of Graduate Studies, to take up appointment on 1 August, or as soon as possible thereafter. The post-holder is responsible for the administration of all aspects of the admission of graduate students to the University and will be the principal link between the Board and the University's Education Section and International Office. He or she will play an important role in the further development of the Board's Web-based admissions procedures and information services for prospective graduate students.

Candidates should be graduates or equivalent, with relevant administrative experience, preferably in Higher Education. The pensionable scale of stipends for an Assistant Registrary is £24,820 to £38,303 a year.

Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting Specialist in the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research in the Faculty of Clinical Medicine

An opportunity for an experienced technologist has arisen to provide a flow cytometry core service. The successful applicant will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and development of the facility, which comprises two MoFlo high-speed sorters and two Becton-Dickinson analysers. Other duties include training and advising users in machine operation, experimental design, data analysis, and presentation. The core service is run jointly with the adjacent Hutchison-MRC Research Centre in conjunction with their Flow Cytometrist, with leave cover and co-ordinated working expected.

The successful applicant will be well organized and able to prioritize and schedule use of the facilities. He/she will be expected to provide training to other scientists in the Institute in the use of the facilities, and be able to communicate effectively with experienced and inexperienced scientific staff and suppliers.

Ideally, applicants should have experience of flow cytometry and/or cell sorting, using Dakocytomation or Becton Dickinson instruments. Experience with other advanced biomedical technologies will also be considered. Applicants should possess a degree in a relevant biological or physical science.

Research Administrator (part-time 60%) in the Academic Division of the University Offices with duties in the Department of Geography

A part-time Research Administrator is required in the Department of Geography, to take up appointment on 11 July or as soon as possible thereafter.

Candidates should be educated to degree level and have previous relevant experience in an administrative post, with proven ability in managing resources and knowledge of good employment practice, preferably gained in a higher education establishment.

The salary for this post will be between £22,508 and £29,127 a year pro rata. The limit of tenure for this post is three years. Funding for this post is available for three years in the first instance and the post may, subject to the availability of funding, be renewed for a further period or periods.
