The Faculty Board of Social and Political Sciences give notice that Paper Pol. 4 (The analysis of modern politics III) has been suspended for the academical year 2006-07. The content of Paper Pol. 3 (The analysis of modern politics II) has been revised, with effect from 1 October 2006, to include comparative as well as international politics. The regulations setting out the choice of papers available to candidates for Part IIB of the Social and Political Sciences Tripos have been amended, with effect from 1 October 2005, to clarify which papers may be replaced by essays.

Regulation 17.

By replacing the proviso to this regulation by the following sentence:

A candidate who chooses any of Papers Pol. 7-9, 11, Soc. 4, 5, 9, Int. 3-9 under (a) or (c) option (i), and who does not include Int. 1B among the papers offered, may offer two essays in place of one of those papers, in accordance with the provisions of Regulation 15.

Regulation 19.

By replacing the proviso to this regulation by the following sentence:

A candidate who chooses any of Papers Soc. 3-6, 9, 10, Pol. 7, 8, 11, Int. 3-9 under (a) or (b) option (i) may offer two essays in place of one of those papers, in accordance with the provisions of Regulation 15.

Regulation 20.

By replacing the proviso to this regulation by the following sentence:

A candidate who chooses any of Papers Soc. 3-6, 9, 10, Int. 3-9 under (a) or (b) option (i) may offer two essays in place of one of those papers, in accordance with the provisions of Regulation 15.

The detail has been amended, with effect from 1 October 2006, so as to read:

The paper examines a range of questions in modern comparative and international politics.
