OSBORN FELLOWSHIP IN MEDIEVAL HISTORY AND CULTURE

The College Council is seeking to appoint the first holder of the Osborn Fellowship and College Lectureship in History with effect from 1 October 2005 or as soon as possible thereafter. The Fellowship has been instituted to ensure the continuity of research and teaching in Medieval History and Culture in the College, with a preference for early Medieval History. The person appointed will be expected to teach for 12 hours a week during term and to assume some responsibility for the Direction of Studies in History.

This is a fixed-term appointment for a period of five years. The person appointed will hold the post of College Lecturer as a First Appointment College Teaching Officer. The initial stipend will be on a scale of £22,500 to £27,100, subject to an annual cost of living increase to be implemented from 1 August 2005. The position is pensionable under USS.

The Osborn Fellow will be a member of the Governing Body of the College. He/she will have a teaching room in College and will enjoy the usual amenities of a Fellowship. Single residential accommodation may be available.

Applications (six copies) should comprise: a completed application form, downloadable from the College website or obtainable from the Master's PA; a curriculum vitae giving full name, address, date and place of birth, and nationality, together with full details of the applicant's educational and career history; details of present appointment and an indication of the date when the applicant would be free to take up the Fellowship; a brief account of the applicant's original research work to date and a full list of publications (copies of which may be requested by the College); the names and contact details of three referees who will be providing references, and who should be asked by the candidate to submit references directly to the Master by the closing date.
